Hello, my name is Brenda, and I’m a phlebotomist at our local hospital—a job I’m truly passionate about. My husband, James, works alongside his father installing floors in their small, family-owned flooring business. It’s physically demanding work, but one he takes great pride in.

From the moment James and I met in 2010, I knew that family was at the heart of everything. When I became an instant mom to his one-year-old son, my heart expanded in ways I never imagined. Together, we dreamed of growing our family—of late-night feedings, sibling laughter filling our home, and watching our son become a big brother. But after fourteen years of heartbreak, surgeries, and unanswered questions, that dream still feels just out of reach.

Our journey has been marked by both hope and grief. We’ve experienced the joy of three positive pregnancy tests—only to suffer devastating losses each time. We’ve endured multiple surgeries, the removal of one ovary, and years of unexplained infertility. Every negative test, every miscarriage, every “I’m sorry” from doctors has felt like another piece of our dream slipping away. Yet we keep trying—because giving up on the family we’ve always longed for is simply unthinkable.

Now, time is running out. My remaining ovary is covered in cysts, including two solid cysts and a dermoid cyst. My doctor says it’s only a matter of time before I lose it too. IVF is our last chance to have a biological child—but after years of medical bills and treatments, we simply can’t afford it on our own. Our insurance does not cover fertility treatments, and the cost is overwhelming. But the thought of never trying is even heavier.
